Joanne's Famous Cookies

1 c butter
1 c white sugar
1 c brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c peanut butter
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla
1 c unground oatmeal (then grind)
2 1/2 c flour
1 1/2 c mix of chocolate chips and butterscotch chips

Mix first 8 ingredients together, then add oatmeal and flour.   Then add in the chocolate and butterscotch chips.  Drop by large spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets and bake at 375 degrees for about 12 minutes.  Let cool a few minutes before removing from sheet.  Makes 3-4 dozen depending on how large you make them.

Alison's Favorite Cookies (Peanut Blossoms)


48 Hershey kisses, unwrapped
1/2 c butter-flavored shortening
3/4 c creamy peanut butter
1/3 c granulated sugar
1/3 c packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
granulated sugar for rolling

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl til well blended. Add white sugar and brown sugar and beat til fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and beat well. Add flour, salt and soda to peanut butter mixture. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 1o minutes. Remove from oven and immediately place hershey kiss into center of cookie and press down til edges start to crack. Remove cookies to wire rack and cool completely. Serve to your daughter-in-law at Christmas and she will LOVE you!`
